• Vaccinations and Screening

Preventative healthcare is a cornerstone of the NHS. At GP Pathfinder Clinics, we provide a comprehensive range of vaccinations and screening programmes to protect you and your family from serious illnesses.

    NHS Vaccinations

Vaccinations (immunisations) are the safest and most effective way to protect against infectious diseases. We offer all routine NHS vaccinations, including:

    Childhood Immunisations

It is vital to keep your child’s vaccinations up to date to protect them from diseases like measles, mumps, rubella, whooping cough, and polio. We offer the full schedule of childhood immunisations.

    Seasonal Flu Vaccine

The flu vaccine is offered every autumn/winter to those at higher risk of severe illness, including people over 65, pregnant women, and those with certain long-term health conditions.

    COVID-19 Vaccinations

We support the NHS COVID-19 vaccination programme. Eligible patients will be invited for seasonal boosters to maintain their protection.

    Travel Vaccinations

If you are planning to travel abroad, you may need specific vaccinations. Please contact us well in advance of your trip (ideally 8 weeks) to discuss your requirements. Note that while some travel vaccines are free on the NHS, others may incur a charge.

    Other Important Vaccines

    • Shingles Vaccine: For eligible older adults.
    • Pneumococcal Vaccine: For those aged 65 and over, and individuals with certain health conditions.
    • MenACWY: For teenagers and new university students.

    NHS Screening Programmes

Screening helps identify healthy people who may be at increased risk of a disease or condition, allowing for early treatment. We actively participate in and support national screening programmes:

    Cervical Screening (Smear Tests)

Offered to women and people with a cervix aged 25 to 64. It checks the health of the cervix and helps prevent cervical cancer. We strongly encourage you to book your appointment when invited.

    Breast Screening

Offered to women aged 50 to 70 to detect early signs of breast cancer. Invitations are sent automatically by the local screening service.

    Bowel Cancer Screening

Offered to men and women aged 60 to 74 (and gradually expanding to include people aged 50 to 59). A home testing kit is sent to you in the post.

    Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Screening

Offered to men during the year they turn 65 to check for a swelling in the aorta.
