• Home Visits

A home visit from a GP is available for patients who are genuinely too unwell or physically unable to attend the surgery. Home visits are not a substitute for attending the practice, but we understand that some patients require care at home.

When Is a Home Visit Appropriate?

A home visit may be appropriate if you:

    • Are housebound due to a serious illness or disability and cannot be transported safely to the surgery
    • Are acutely unwell and physically unable to travel
    • Are in the final stages of a terminal illness

Home visits are not appropriate for routine consultations, repeat prescriptions, or conditions that can be safely managed by attending the surgery or via a telephone or video consultation.

How to Request a Home Visit

If you believe you need a home visit, please contact the practice as early as possible — ideally before 10:00 am. This allows the GP to plan their visits efficiently.

When you call, the receptionist will take brief details about your condition. A GP or clinician may call you back to assess whether a home visit is clinically necessary, or whether your needs can be met in another way (such as a video consultation).

    Telephone and Video Consultations

In many cases, a telephone or video consultation can provide the same level of care as a home visit, without the wait. Our GPs are available for video consultations through GP Access Video.
